Daniel Boone CA- May 4, 2025

Happy Star Wars Day

Caught up on my chores and Vicky was gone this weekend seeing Keith Urban in St Louis, so I drove the short 6 miles to Daniel Boone Conservation Area to walk the multi use trail which is about 7.5 miles around the loop.

There was no forecast for rain today, however the day started out looking dreary, but it cleared quickly and became sunny. The large pond next to the primitive RV campground where I park, was not looking too inviting.

The morning was chilly around 45f. It gave me my first opportunity to wear a new Alpha 60 hoody made by my friend Cathy Renth. She has a small etsy style shop called Herb and Hike ... go check it out! also on Facebook, I believe.

This trail is marked with a purple circle

The spiderwort's were springing up everywhere, along with Goldenrod, and more spring flowers.

more green animal ponds 😝

This trail doesn't get much walking use. It is primarily for horses but it doesn't look like too many have been here yet. This path will be overgrown and "ticky" pretty soon, I fear.

This area around Hermann Missouri is very hilly, there are two fairly good drops to creeks and then back up again. Both creeks had plenty of water.

Various animal tracks in the mud along the way

Thirsty yet? Not me, I always bring a water filter, but today only in an extreme emergency! 😂

Glad it wasn't deer season, as I saw about a half dozen bounding through the woods. Look in the circle below, they blend in well.

The trail is definitely growing over

Finally a well placed trail marker. Leaving the last creek, the trail did not carry on, directly across, so scanning right and left, this was a big help.

climbing the last hill, a nice view of the surrounding ridge lines

Active forest work, just before the end

The last large pond by the RV campground. The day turned very nice.

My route in the red. The green is a spur that may or may not still be there. I will have to investigate the next time I go over here.
