Our annual trip with the grandkids down to Branson Missouri to Silver Dollar City and the Christmas Parade also included a special treat on Sunday. PJ's and Pancakes with Santa is a special Branson Belle Showboat cruise for kids (and whole families) to dress in their pajama's and enjoy a full cruise on Table Rock Lake with breakfast and a full stage show. This was a super trip this year with good weather and everyone lasted till the Parade (barely 😆) but everyone had a good time!
After driving down to Branson on Friday, we had dinner at Mel's Hard Luck Diner, a great restaurant in Branson where the servers all sing songs in the restaurant. Afterward was shopping at the Christmas store and mom got her picture taken with Santa!
The kids all arrived late, but not late enough to take advantage of the indoor pool at the hotel we had booked 😆. After sleeping in Saturday morning, we were off to Silver Dollar City.
Carolers were singing carols greeting you at the entrance and the park is decorated with six and half million lights!
First thing over to the kids section for rides on everything. It was busy and crowded, given the great weather today, but the kids got to ride everything they wanted. The adult rides, like rollercoaster, had a 2-3 wait line... no way !
One of the best things to do is ride the steam train, which snakes its way through the park and into the woods surrounding Silver Dollar City. All aboard
About half way through the train stops to hear "Grampa" tell the natively story.
Lillie (top), Hayley listen intently. It is a lovely telling.
The long shadows and lovely weather made it a great ride
They all made it to 6 pm and the time for the Parade. Last year they didn't and we had to leave before the Parade. Vicky was especially keen on staying as this is the last year for this Rudolph Parade which has been going on for decades. What will be next, we don't know
The crowds had grown throughout the day and it is always packed along the path for the start of the Parade.
"Bumbles" is always first
Followed by Rudolph, since it is his parade
and Burl Ives .... 😆
Santa
Then the rest of the cast and toys
Mrs Claus
The giant tree lights up and sings. 48,000 lights
It as back to the hotel, with a quick stop to pick up pizzas and the kids were out like a light. Sunday was a bit cooler and overcast as we drove over to the Branson Belle for PJ's and Pancakes with Santa.
Kissing Santa Claus
My mom and me
The whole gang before boarding
Once on board there was lots for the kids to do. Face painting was a must
The preshow movie was the Rankin/Bass Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (1970). Featuring the voice of Fred Astaire and the Burgermeister Meisterburger... LOL.... I had forgotten how much I loved this movie at Christmas... I am sure a great choice for the Grandparents in the audience, as even most parents are too young to remember this movie...
Mrs. Claus made the rounds
Poppi helping ice suger cookies
The Floor Show starting
Only a hippopotamus will do!
That horse could dance good!
Santa finally arrives
The kids were enthralled with the show.
The big finish
Snow from the roof... nice touch
In fact, we did get a dusting of snow on the lake while the boat cruised.
A great way to finish the weekend.
It was a perfect weekend ❤️
